BootRun – Bum Knee

It seems that all that running around in the boots combined with additional training have created a nice case of iliotibial band syndrome. Rest, rest, rest is the cure.

Maybe this is why people DON’T run in boots. Did you ever finish the 12 runs?

No, I didn’t finish them. The boots were the at the root of the knee problems I was having. I stopped running in the boots, stretched the ITB before and after running, iced the knee post run, and cut back a bit on the training. It took several months to fix the problem. And, at times, the pain was so bad it would wake me up in the middle of the night.

It was disappointing because I was getting faster and faster in the boots, and, as a result, getting faster and faster without them. But, never fear, I will probably get another chance to try the runs next year…
